Rising Stars: A New Constellation of Arts & Culture as Southwest Virginia Celebrates Women in the Arts highlight the region’s activities taking place during MINDS WIDE OPEN: Virginia Celebrates Women in the Arts; the first statewide celebration of its kind.
Between March and June of 2010, thousands of special programs and events will occur across the Commonwealth to honor contributions by women to arts and culture. Activities range from plays, choreography, compositions, and exhibitions of paintings, photography or films that have been created by women or feature women as the primary focus.
Southwest Virginia has jumped on the statewide initiative and Rising Stars: A New Constellation of Arts & Culture as Southwest Virginia Celebrates Women in the Arts will celebrate our region’s offerings with a special web site, on-line calendar, FREE take-away booklet, and hotel packages.
The Arts Council of the Blue Ridge invites you to join us as we celebrate Women in the Arts by attending a Rising Stars concert, play, or exhibition, while thanking women for their “stellar” contributions to the arts in our lives each and every day.
